This lot features books on Armco Steel and Middletown, Ohio. The first book is titled ‘40 Years with Armco’ by Bennett Chapple. Mr. Chapple was a former employee of Armco and wrote of his reminiscences of the Armco spirit and included ‘poetry at Armco’. There is a forward by, then president, Raph L. Gray. In relation to Armco Steel is the book titled ‘True Steel’, written by Christy Borth. This book covers the story of George M. Verity and associates in the American Rolling Mill Company. Another book is the vintage ‘Welcome to Sheffield’, mid America’s Pioneer Steel Producer. The fourth book is titled ‘Middletown U.S.A – All-America City’. It was written by George C. Crout in 1960 and was published by The Perry Printing Company of Middletown, Ohio. It covers an array of history including founders, physicians, and businesses (including Armco Steel). Three of the books are hard bound and three include written and pictorial histories.

Condition

All of these books are in very good condition. These books are clean with no yellowing to the paper, void of paper creases, or markings of any kind. The jacket for “True Steel” is torn in several places and the inside front and back covers have some slight discoloration. The pages, however, are in very good condition. The Armco Steel book does not have the date it was published. The “Welcome to Sheffield” book is paperback.

Both books are nearly identical in size. The Middletown, Ohio history book is slightly thicker.
