A carved wood sculpture by artist Ben Ortega (1923-1998). This sculptural piece depicts a stylized bearded figure who appears to represent Saint Francis of Assisi. He is wearing a robe while standing with two outstretched arms. Perched on the arms are two small birds. This piece is made with a folk art style rendering featuring faceted shapes and expressive forms. This piece is signed ‘Ben Ortega’ to the underside of its base.
