Stunning Japanese 1920’s – 30’s Satsuma dragonware moriage tea set with lithophane cups. This rare tea set is named for the fantastical images of dragons on each piece featuring sculpted dragon head spouts and lid handles. Glazed in a bright green field with red and gold accents the dragon and decorations are designed with a raised beaded texture. This amazing set also features lithophane images in the bottom of the six tea cups depicting a beautiful woman that can be viewed when held to the light. Set includes 6 cups and saucers, 6 side plates, two tea pots, and one lidded double handled pot.
Condition
One cup has a tiny rough spot on the rim with loss of gilt.
