A collection of 1873 Department of Agriculture official postage stamps. This group of five yellow postage stamps issued to the Department of Agriculture for official government use only include a six cent stamp with a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. Also included is one cent stamp with a portrait of Benjamin Franklin, a two cent stamp with a portrait of Andrew Jackson, a three cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington and a fifteen cent stamp with a portrait of Daniel Webster. The 1879 issue stamps were printed by the Continental Bank Note Company on hard paper and are similar to the ‘bank note issue’ regular postage stamps issued at that time. Official stamps were discontinued in 1884
