A Karastan Navy Heriz wool area rug. This rug begins with an eight pointed star and attached Shah Abassi pendants over a large stepped lozenge. The design elements includes an abundance of stylized palmettes an split tulips. Spandrels are layered with corresponding patterns of floral elements. This rug is worked in a palette of blues, watermelon, black, honey and ivory. The main border offers large floral blossom and leaf motifs finishing with over-stitched selvedges and attached fringe at each end. Labeled to the verso.
