An oil painting on board of a sunrise over a landscape, signed in blue and black pigments ‘J. W. Orth’ to the lower left. This landscape painting depicts a sunrise over a large body of water. Purple and pink clouds at the horizon all but obscure the sun, allowing just a few rays of light to escape. The artist has used a heavy application of paint in the foreground to depict the colorful foliage. This painting is signed in blue to the lower left. In addition, there is a partially legible date. This painting is presented in a gold-tone composite frame with cast embellishments. The verso of this piece is equipped to hang.
