Item Details
A reverse painting on glass with mother-of-pearl inlays. This exterior painting depicts a whimsical home with arched windows, rounded, vine covered roof lines, and a cylindrical tower. The windows of the home as well as the moon are represented by opalescent inlays of mother-of-pearl. The work is inscribed on the back ‘Grandmother Deliah Jenette Wilhelm May, Picture’. It is presented naturally behind its glass ground, in an ornately decorated wood and gesso frame with molded arabesque motif. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
