1918 US Playing Card No. 500 Set 62 Cards

An early set of U.S. Playing card set No. 500 with its original box. The maroon cardboard box is labeled with gold-shaded lettering ‘No. 500 Playing Cards 11, 12 & Two 13 Sports for Six Handed Games’, ‘Made in U.S.A. The U.S. Playing Card Co. Cincinnati, Ohio.’ The joker depicts three ‘Brownies’ playing a card game; behind the middle player is an illustration of the sun, printed inside the sun is ‘FIVE HUNDRED’. The Ace of Spades has ‘500 Five Hundred’, ‘The U.S. Playing Card Co. Cincinnati U.S.A.’ and ‘Y1503’; the ‘Y’ refers to the date this set was printed, which is 1918. The design on the fiip side of each card has four dragons contained inside circles. Each ‘11’ and ‘12’ card has Roman numerals and there is a ‘13’ card with Roman numerals for the set of Diamonds and Hearts. There are sixty-two cards (that includes the Joker).
Condition
- no tears on the cards, but they do show aging
