A pair of oil and acrylic paintings on canvas of clowns by Dayton artist Virginia K. Hess. These contemporary works depict figural portraiture of clowns in a variety of vibrant, happy colors. Both pieces are signed by the artist to the lower right corner. Both pieces are presented behind linen fabric reveals in a beveled wood frames.
Virginia Krause Hess is a versatile, distinguished artist from Dayton, Ohio whose works range from oil paintings to wood, ceramic, stone and metalwork sculptures in subjects spanning from from abstract work, portraiture and landscapes, to historical scenes and events. She has fulfilled commissions from public institutions and private collectors both regionally and nationally. In 2006, Ms. Hess unveiled a bronze bust at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Virginia received her formal art education at the School of the Dayton Art Institute and the University of Dayton. She has taught fine art classes at several institutions throughout the Ohio Valley Region.
