Spelter Sculptures of Napoleon After Rigual and François-Charles de Franoz

A set of two early-to-mid 20th-century sculptures in patinated spelter, each depicting French leader Napoléon Bonaparte (1769 – 1821). Featured is a sculpture after French artist François-Charles de Franoz (1850-1908) depicting Bonaparte in military attire standing in front of a small stack of cannonballs. The piece is marked ‘C. de Franoz’ in mold to one side of the square base. Also included is a figure after Rigual depicting Napoleon on horseback wearing a bicorne hat. The piece is marked ‘Rigual’ in mold to the metal base, which is mounted to a rectangular marble plinth.

Condition
- to fair; cracks present to marble base, with attempted glued repair; Rigual piece is not fully secured to base; overall surface wear, small nicks and markings; discoloration to metal.
