A pair of plaques showing replicas of ancient Hebrew coins. Each of these two identical oval desktop displays shows the reverse and obverse of a coin, with a plaque reading ‘Ancient Hebrew coin 69 CE from the fortress of Massada [sic] on the shore of the Dead Sea.’ Built by Herod the Great, Masada was a clifftop fortress and refuge for rebellious Jewish zealots, the siege of which by Roman forces in 73 CE resulted in the death of nearly 1000 defenders.
