Vintage Fontaine Fox Toonerville Trolley Tin Toy

An vintage Toonerville Trolley wind-up clockwork tin toy. Marked made in Germany this tin toy features the Fontaine Fox comic character The Skipper at the controls on the front end of the trolley with red and golden yellow lithographed details. Hallmarked ‘Copyright 1922 by Fontaine Fox’ to the sides and ‘Pat Applied for and Made in Germany’ to the base. Clockwork wind-up mechanics propel the trolley forward and cause ‘The Skipper’ to turn his crank and ‘bump’ along.
Condition
- clockworks appear to be in working condition, however, this piece was not wound more than to see if the wheels moved in turn.
- dust and marks to the finish
- trolley leans a bit
- finish has a few more scratches to the edges of the piece and on one side under the word trolley
