An oil painting on paper of cats by listed artist Violet Parkhurst (1921 – 2008). This Expressionist style painting depicts a gathering of eight siamese cats, which are rendered with a textural application of earthen pigment featuring thick outlines and dark faces. They are set against a warm toned background. To the lower right corner of the composition is a painted artist signature. The painting is mounted to board and is placed in a cream wooden frame featuring a linen liner.
