A set of thirty-five hardcovers from the ‘Definitive Edition’ of the Writings of Mark Twain, published in the 1920s by Gabriel Wells of New York. Stated signed limited edition, signed both ‘Mark Twain’ and ‘S.L. Clemens’ to the front flyleaf. Numbered 547/1024. All volumes have applied labels to the spine, deckle page edges, and black-and-white lithograph illustrations. The set is nearly complete, with 35 volumes out of 37 (Vol. XXXVI and XXXVII missing).
