An 1893 Kurz & Allison chromolithograph of a Civil War battle titled Battle of Wilson’s Creek. The piece depicts an important Confederate victory, the first major battle of the Trans-Mississippi Theater of the Civil War, fought on August 10, 1861 in Missouri. It is also call the Battle of Oak Hills and referred to the _Bull Run of the West’. The chromolithograph shows the wooded meadow, scene of the fierce battle, with a mortally wounded officer atop a white horse to the mid ground. The battle gave the Confederacy control of southwestern Missouri. The print is presented under glass in a light wood frame, wired to the back for wall hanging. Kurt & Allison were a Chicago publisher of chromolithographs in the 1800s, specializing in prints of Civil War battles.
