1850s "The Chinese Empire, Historical and Descriptive" with Steel Engravings

A nineteenth-century work in two volumes titled The Chinese Empire, Historical and Descriptive by the Rev. G. N. Wright, ‘Illustrating The Manners and Customs of the Chinese in a Series of Steel Engravings from Original Sketches by T. Allon, Esq.’ This illustrated book on China was published circa 1858 by the London Printing and Publishing Company, Limited, of London and New York; both volumes feature numerous plates depicting ‘China, Its Scenery, Architecture, Social Habits, &c.’ The two quarto volumes are bound in half leather with raised bands, gilt spine text and marbled endpapers.
