A hardcover copy of The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushie, signed by the author to the half-title page. The novel caused controversy in the Islamic world and caused the Ayatollah of Iran to issue a death sentence on Rushdie. This is the first American edition, published in 1989 by Viking Penguin. A certificate of authenticity from Bauman Rare Books is included.
