Item Details

A first edition of the Statenvertaling or Statenbijbel, the official Dutch state translation of the Bible published in 1637. This Bible was printed by Paulus Aertsz van Ravensteyn of Leyden, and the engraved title page features an image of the Leiden skyline. The authorization page is hand-signed by Representative of the States-General Barent Langenes and dated 1639. The folio volume is bound in full leather over oak boards with brass tone metal corners, centerpiece and clasps.
