Signed Kerri Buxton and Brad Taylor Abstract Teapot

A thrown, altered and low fired abstract teapot by noted potters Kerri Buxton and Brad Taylor. This whimsical piece features a colorful underglazed palette, the final firing with a clear gloss glaze. It has a light gray roped handle with a gray, textured spout. The fitted lid is domed, with circular patterning in bright colors. It has a twisted coil finial highlighted in black underglaze. The body of the footed vessel features large swirls of red, orange, gray and violet with teal eyes that appear shrouded in the colorful abstract swirls which also form a nose and mouth. The base is elaborate with scrolled feet on twisted coil supports. The piece is signed to the base with ‘Buxton / Taylor / 96’ and Kerri Buxton’s swirled initials in black underglaze.
