W.H. Simmons Antique Hand-colored Engraving after "The Meet of the Vine Hounds"

An 1844 hand-colored engraving titled The Meet of the Vine Hounds engraved by William Henry Simmons (British, 1811 – 1882) after an original painting by Henry Calvert, (British, 1798 – 1869). The print depicts a well-dressed lady and gentleman arriving in a horse-drawn carriage as riders gather for the day’s hunt and the hounds head off to the right. The names of the artist and engraver as well as the publishing information are printed to the lower margin. It is presented under glass, in a stained wood frame with a gold tone wooden liner, and is ready to hang with a wire.

Condition

- toning to print. Small amount of debris under frame. Extensive wear and loss to finish of frame liner. Minor nicks and wear to frame.

- measures frame. Plate mark measures 28.75" W x 16.75" H.
