An antique M. Heminway & Sons spool cabinet, circa late 19th to early 20th century. The pine and poplar case features a rectangular top above a ruby glass panel with a beaded, oak surround. The panel is marked with gilt letters reading ‘M. Heminway & Sons, Art Needlework Silks.’ Directly below are twenty glass-front drawers with white-painted interiors, eighteen of which are compartmentalized. The fronts are fitted with metal handles and the case façade is applied with strips of pressed molding along the edges. The back retains a partial, paper label marked ‘This Cabinet is furnished for / the exclusive use of / M. [He]minway & Sons / …’

- scattered scratches, scuffs, and nicks with some resulting/small putty repairs; top with a C-shaped burn mark; some small chips to glass drawer fronts; a couple fronts with larger chips/losses near corners; some small nicks/chips to façade molding with slightly heavier wear to strip along bottom edge; drawer interiors with flaking to white paint; four drawers missing an interior divider strip; other minor imperfections as would be expected with age and use.
