A vintage Virginia Metalcrafters cast iron horse doorstop. The piece is a 1949 copyrighted Virginia Metalcrafters, of Waynesboro, VA. It is titled “Hunter” to the front, and is posed to the left. The piece is embossed to the verso, “18-10, Copyright 1949, VA MetalCrafters, Waynesboro, VA,” along with the maker’s mark and initials “CRK” which is attributed to Calvin Roy Kinstler. Calvin Roy Kinstler was commissioned by Virginia Metalcrafters to create casts for two horses, named Hunter and Citation, the Triple Crown Winner.
Condition
- some white paint spotting and slight wear to the finish; wear to the base feet; some wear and scratching.
