An antique English Hepplewhite bowfront chest with inlay, early 19th century. The mahogany-veneered case features a rectangular top with a bowed front edge above two aligned, dovetailed drawers with oak linings over three graduated, long drawers. The chest is embellished with string inlay along the top of the case as well as cockbeading on the edges of the drawer fronts. In addition, the fronts are inset with brass escutcheons and fitted with oval pulls. The chest rises on flared, French feet centered by a shaped skirt.

- to fair; case refinished at some point; scattered scratches and marks, with some larger scratches to top and side panels; one back corner of top with a small veneer patch while other corner has a small chip/loss; right edge of top with a couple of small losses to string inlay; brass pulls are replacements; right side panel with a shrinkage crack near bottom; a few splits to backboards, one of which has been reinforced with a strip of canvas; other minor wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use.
