An oil painting on canvas of women in a field. This painting depicts two women adorned in rustic head wraps, aprons and dresses leisurely resting on a grassy field. One of the women sits back, supporting her body with both arms, while the other drinks from a jug. To the lower left corner of the composition is a painted, illegible artist signature. The painting is presented in an ornately moulded, gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- painting is covered with accretion; there is evidence of some repairs to the canvas, UV light reveals inpainting in a few areas, and three canvas patches are visible to the verso; edge wear and cracks to the frame, the upper left corner of the frame broke off and was repaired with an excessive amount of adhesive.
