Edgar Nye Oil Painting of a Grove of Trees
Item Details
An oil painting on canvas of a grove of trees by Edgar Hewitt Nye (1879-1943). This painterly work depicts a field as seen through clusters of green-leafed trees, a pale gray sky looming overhead. The composition, which features a shadowy expanse of grass to its foreground, is signed ‘E. Nye’ to its lower right corner and is mounted in a molded gold tone frame with a sawtooth bracket mounted to its verso.
Condition
- light paint loss to perimeter of artwork; cracks throughout canvas; discoloration to face and verso of canvas; scratching and wear throughout frame.
