Arthur H. Cole Antique Oil Painting on Canvas "Lingering Daylight"
Item Details
An antique oil painting titled Lingering Daylight by listed artist Arthur H. Cole (late 19th century). This landscape painting depicts a Tudor style country cottage near a shallow pond. A light glows in the window and smoke rises from the chimney against the twilight colors of early evening. The work is signed ‘A.H. Cole’ in the lower left, and dated 1894. A hand written title is found on the back of the top canvas stretcher. It is presented in a gilded wood and gesso frame with molded arabesque motif. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- craquelure; toning and oil spots on verso of canvas; backing paper gone.
