Verne Oil Paintings on Canvas of Desert Landscapes
Item Details
A selection of four oil paintings on canvas by California artist Gladys Marie Baxter Duckworth (1904-1981), signed with the pseudonym ‘Verne’. These small pieces each depict a different desert view, overlooking vast plains, colorful dusk skies over mountain ranges, and and scattered plant life. Each is signed to a lower corner and two have a label to the back saying they are by ‘Verne of Laguna Beach, California’. The works are presented in gold tone wood frames.
Condition
- to Poor; canvases are very fragile; some tears in canvases with cracks and paint loss; craquelure to paint; discoloration to pieces; wear to edges and corners of frame; frames are of weak construction; torn or missing paper backing.
Dimensions
- all frames are approximately the same size.
