A pressed steel model train Buddy L Outdoor Railroad #1000 Pacific type locomotive and coal tender, c. 1930s. The non-powered locomotive and tender appear in 5/8 inch scale, and runs on 3.25’ gauge, two rail track. Produced by the Moline Press Steel Company. Buddy L was introduced by Fred A. Lundahl, who started Moline, and named after Fred’s son, Arthur. Beneath the operator’s windows of the locomotive are train numbers, 963, to the back is a Buddy L label, and to the front is Buddy L label. The tender appears with a label to the top side, and Buddy L Outdoor Railroad labels to the sides. Included with the locomotive and tender are seven pieces of Buddy L 3.25’ gauge straight track and one other unknown piece of 3.25’ gauge track.
Condition
- light scratches, marks and signs of use throughout; rarely seen in such good condition; some minor paint decoration loss; parts of the labels are worn and missing.
