An antique trophy sketch on paper for Brookline’s Grand Annual Steeplechase, rendered in gouache, watercolor, and graphite. This design features a large trophy cup with a saddle strap around the top rim, an illustrated horse-racing scene on the side of the bowl, flanked by two horse busts in place of the handles, and a black base. Handwritten inscriptions throughout the drawing provide notes for the design. A prominent inscription to the right reads ‘The Country Club / Grand Annual Steeplechase / Brookline – Mass / June 15 1910 / Won by’. The composition is presented under glass with beige matting, and housed in a gilt wood frame. Remnants of a frame label are present to the verso.

Condition
- some fading and toning throughout composition; faint stains present to upper left of composition; faint smudge marks and toning throughout mat; finish loses stains, and scratches throughout frame.
