Hmong "Paj Ntaub" Embroideries

A grouping of three “Paj Ntaub” or “flower cloth” textiles from the Hmong culture of people located in Southern China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar, as well as a significant population in the United States. These handmade textiles feature scrolling, spiral, and geometric forms in reverse appliqué with embroidered detail. Two of the pieces feature compositions mirrored from the center with a traditional double spiral design surrounded with embroidered lines and triangles, and a third piece with single spirals and square winding designs. The works are unsigned and presented together behind a fabric mat and glass in a painted purple wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

- to Poor; discoloration, fading, and wear to textile; scratches and scuffs to frame; accretion to surfaces.
