Persian Hand-Knotted Heriz Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian wool on cotton area rug attributed to the Heriz region. There is a stepped lozenge field, in a bold red, adorned with a central medallion and pendants. To the corners are ivory spandrels showcasing stylized foliage in shades of blue, reds, olive green, and ivory. Enclosing the field is a dark turtle unresolved border featuring abrashed colors throughout. The main border is flanked by a pair of guard borders featuring two versions of a crenelated foliage pattern. Either side has a thick selvage border, and the ends finish with cotton fringes.
