An oil portrait on canvas of a southern belle. Portrayed with loose impressionistic brushstrokes, this nearly full-body portrait features a young woman wearing a purple hoop-skirt dress with a ruffled skirt; she wears a hat with an elaborate bow tied around her chin and holds a folded fan in her hands as she gazes at the viewer with a serious expression on her face. The work is unsigned and is presented in a gold-tone wood Arts & Crafts style frame with a brown cove.

- craquelure throughout painting; some rubbing and paint loss along edges of painting; wear in frame includes stains, scratches, and finish loss scattered throughout.
