A watercolor painting on paper titled Frightened Friend of the North Wind by Native American artist Justin Tso (Navajo; born 1948). The work depicts several horses in bright vibrant colors. To the bottom right, the work is signed. To the verso, a gallery label is adhered. The painting is presented matted and under glass with a wooden frame.
Justin Tso was born in Canyon de Chelly, Arizona and is known for his equestrian scenes and Navajo reservation landscapes. He is very proud of his heritage and takes great care to portray this in his paintings. He went to many different schools all over the southwest including Chinle, Arizona; Gallup, New Mexico; and Lawton, Oklahoma, and completed his education at I.T.C. in San Francisco, California, and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
