An oil painting on canvas titled Texas Bluebonnets by listed American western artist Mel Bradshaw (20th/21st Century), created in 1987. This work features a flowering spring field with a winding walking path surrounded by leafy trees, bluebonnets, and other orange and white buds scattered throughout the landscape. The work is rendered in an impressionistic manner with dashes of pigment and loose brushstrokes. It is signed and dated ‘© M. H. Bradshaw 1987 / ’Texas Springtime’’ to the lower left. The composition is presented in a gilt wood frame with moulded floral motifs in the corners and a canvas liner. A metal plate is affixed to the lower center of the frame engraved with the title and artist’s name.
Artist Mel Bradshaw was born in Durango, Colorado and has spent most of his life in the American West. Currently he resides in Arizona with his wife and continues to produce genre paintings based on his first-hand experiences of the landscape and lifestyle of his youth. Bradshaw’s paintings are displayed in several private collections and magazine publications including Old West and Western Horseman.
