A vintage machinist oak tool chest by H. Gerstner & Sons of Dayton, Ohio. The quartersawn, machine-dovetailed case features a rectangular, hinged lid with a top-mounted, leather handle opening to a green, felt-lined storage well with a mirror. The exterior has metal, silver tone latches and corner bumpers with a hinged front panel. When folded down, the panel slides into the case below an arrangement of seven drawers with metal knobs. The front lock, the bottom drawer, and the interior baseboard are marked by the manufacturer. Also included are two keys to the working lock mechanism.
Condition
- some minor surface wear; some tiny oxidation spots to exterior metal fittings; front panel with drip mark from wood stain.
