Artina and BMF Decorative German Pewter Plates
Item Details
A pair of decorative German pewter plates. One features embossed designs depicting a couple engaged in a secret embrace with a border of sweeping garland. The underside is marked ‘SKS Zinn 95% Made in W. Germany’, which is a trademark of Artina Austria. The other depicts a repoussé scene depicting the wedding of a 19th century couple near a horse drawn carriage with ornate scroll, lattice, and floral patterns around the border. The underside is marked ‘BMF-ZINN 95%’ with the image of an angel, which stands for BMF C. Koch GmbH of Nuremberg, a manufacturer and exporter of German giftware. Both items have a mounting hook to the underside.
