A pair of watercolor paintings on paper titled Indian Worshiper and Peace Pipe by Kiowa artist Jim Tartsah (1934 – 1984). Each work depicts a Native American figurative scene in regalia using flat bold colors. To the bottom right of each work, the items are signed. Each frame has a metal plaque adhered with the title of the work and the artist’s name engraved. The paintings are presented under glass with red canvas fillets in gold-toned and black wooden frames.

Kiowa artist Jim Tartsah (1934 – 1984) was self taught and was also known for producing music as well as paintings. Additional paintings can be viewed at the Philbrook Museum of Art located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Condition

- some scratches and wear to each frame; each glass could benefit from a cleaning; to the verso of each item, some smudges and wear to the protective paper.
