An antique mahogany games compendium with F.H. Ayres instruction booklet, circa late 19th century. The rectangular case features a hinged lid opening to a compartmentalized interior containing six polychromed, lead horses with jockeys, twenty-eight bone dominoes, thirty-two boxwood and ebonized chess pieces, thirty boxwood and ebonized checkers; thirty-seven glass marbles, 103 colored tiddlywinks, four bone dice with a boxwood shaker, and four bone spillikins. The box also comes with a wooden cribbage board, a painted-wood solitaire/snail game board, a two-panel ‘Go-Bang’ board, a leather checker/chess/backgammon/steeplechase board with four panels, as well as a set of ‘Fauntleroy’ playing cards by U.S. Playing Cards. There are two ‘Bezique’ registers, two ‘Whist’ markers, and a rule booklet published by F.H. Ayres.

- to fair; box with a light crack near back left corner of lid; one interior divider is loose; some game pieces/sets may not be original to the compendium; playing card set is missing eight of diamonds and jokers; one panel of four-panel game board is separated and there are losses to the leather throughout; one ebonized checker with a glue repair, a few minor chips to other checkers; instruction booklet with loose pages and marks; other minor wear as would be expected.
