A Japanese katana with scabbard. This iconic sword of the Japanese samurai has a slightly curved, single-edged blade with a Damascus-style pattern and a four-character mark to the ricasso, affixed to a bronze-toned habaki mounting. The hilt features a detailed, etched and pierced brass- and bronze-toned tsuba guard with draconic images. The smooth grip with a light blue finished decorated with stylized flowers and swirling images in red, blue, yellow, and lavender has a mekugi peg to the middle, and the cap pommel has etched dragon imagery and an attached chocolate-brown tassel. The sword includes a wooden scabbard with a design similar to the hilt, including ornate bronze-toned throat, chape, and twin suspenders with brown tassels.
