A hand-painted gold leaf and tempura on polished paper page from the book Dala’il al-Khayrat written by Muhammad al-Jazuli (Moroccan, 1404 – 1465). The leaf is dated to 1728 from Isfahan, Persia (modern-day Iran). The leaf includes seven lines of red and black text lined with gilt borders on one side and five lines on the other with ornate decoration. The leaf is held in off-white matting windows, wrapped in protective plastic.
An accompanying label and descriptive insert describes the piece as the ex collection of the J.P. Getty Museum, deaccessioned in 1997.
