An oil painting on canvas of a floral bouquet by well-listed modern artist John Hansegger (Swiss-American; 1908-1989). The work features a collection of long-stemmed flowers extending out from a trumpet glass vase. The work is signed to the bottom right corner of the painting. It is presented in a gold-toned wooden frame with wire hanger to the verso.
Born in Switzerland, John Hansegger joined the Kunstler-Vereinigung in Munich, Germany where he showed his work in several exhibitions. Among renowned modern artists such as Paul Klee, he joined the ‘Surindependents’ movement in Paris. He settled in the United States in 1948, where he painted portraits of famed public figures such as Albert Einstein, President Dwight E. Eisenhower, and Nelson Rockefeller, among many others. Some of the many institutions that have exhibited his work include the Princeton University Art Museum; Gallery Moderne, New York; and the Berkshire Museum, to name a few.
