Item Details
An oil and gilt wood panel painted icon of Saint Nicholas. The wood and gesso icon features a detailed portrait of the Saint with a gold gilt background. The Saint is depicted holding a book in his left hand with his right hand raised in the symbol of Benediction. The piece is inscribed with hand painted Cyrillic text. It is hand signed appearing to read ‘Xeip Apigteido’ and dated 1998 to the lower right. It is presented unframed.
Condition
- gilding lifting off the board near the top left side of the Saint’s head; some scratches and nicks around the board.
