A lithograph after renowned Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893 – 1983) of an abstract composition. This black and white piece presents a horizontal abstract figure surrounded by geometric shapes, with expressive line work and crayon texture. The work is signed by an unknown hand in pencil to the lower right and marked ‘H. C.’ to the lower left. It is presented under a mat, gold tone fillet and glass in a wood frame, wired to hang.

Born in Barcelona, Spain during 1893 and received his formal education at the Barcelona Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Academie Gali. He became friends with Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Ernest Hemingway, Max Ernst and Paul Klee. Miró was accepted as a Surrealist in Paris with the recognition of some of the greatest artists of our times.

- glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; minor marks and dents to frame; chips to finish; minor damage to backing paper.
