Pair of Guangxu Mark and Period Century Chinese Vases with Elephant Handles

A pair of mark and period Guangxu (1875-1908) Chinese porcelain vases in imperial form having a waisted neck flanked by elephant handles. Each vase is finely decorated by hand to illustrate various flowering branches and pomegranates on a white field with the neck and foot having a pattern in iron red. The vases were likely produced ca. 1900 and contain a six character blue underglaze Guangxu mark.
According to family lore, the vases were purchased in Peking by a family member who was in the China trade as a clipper ship captain. It is possible they were acquired during the second decade of the 20th century.
Condition
- the vases are in very good condition showing only appropriate wear to the gold rim.
