A vintage Catholic last rites wall hanging shadowbox with a chalkware Holy Family. The piece features a wood case with two painted glass panes to the front. The upper portion features a chalkware Holy Family with a young Sacred Heart Jesus to the interior. The lower cabinet features a hinged glass paned door featuring a design after Da Vinci’s The Last Supper. The interior of the cabinet is lined with paper and includes two silver tone metalwork leaves and a paper marked Viaticum for the Eucharist given to a person near death. The piece is ready to hang with a wire to the verso.
Condition
- wood in one corner is worn, paper covering on back is peeling; scratches and oxidation noted; wear to the paper lining of the lower cabinet; some dust.
