An antique American walnut bookcase. This large 19th century bookcase has a pronounced cornice made of multiple moldings with rounded corners above the two glazed doors, each with two large panes and a round walnut escutcheon, the right door having a second lock; the interior having poplar backboards behind the five long adjustable poplar shelves, each faced on the outer edge with a walnut strip; with the bottom of the case resting within a raised lip made of molding on an over hanging top of a deeper base enclosing two large drawers with turned walnut knobs set on turned roundels, the drawers each having escutcheon-less locks; the base on a raised plinth of wide molding. Unmarked.
