Lorenzo Ghiglieri's "American Bald Eagle" Bronze, Silver and Gold Sculpture

A limited edition bronze, silver and 24K gold sculpture titled American Bald Eagle by Lorenzo Ghiglieri (American, b 1931), executed in 1992. Ghiglieri is a third generation artist, best known for his wildlife sculpture, and in particular eagles. Edition 25 of 200, this sculpture was authorized by the National Wildlife Federation as “the most accurate portrayal ever of our national bird”. The original sculpture for this edition was acquired by the White House and is part of the permanent art collection. Hand inscribed in sgraffito to the base, numbered 25/200, and dated 1992. The body and wings are bronze, the head and tail are sterling silver, and the beak is 24K yellow gold. The eagle is poised on an oak tree branch with acorns and leaves, mounted on a granite base with a bronze inset band centered around the ledge. The eagle stands 33.00’ tall with a wingspan of 21.00’. Originally sculpted by Ghiglieri, the edition was produced by First International Fine Arts. The sculpture sits upon an oak pedestal base with a brass plaque commemorating the work of Lorenzo Ghiglieri in cooperation with the National Wildlife Federation.
