Porcelain Figurines from Occupied Japan with Josef and Goebel Pieces
Item Details
A collection of porcelain figurines from Occupied Japan with Josef and Goebel pieces. The four pieces depict Colonial era and 19th century men and women in formal or traditional costume. The Colonial couple wearing colorful outfits is marked to the base ‘Made in Occupied Japan’, as is the young girl holding her flared skirt accented with flowers. The man wearing the yellow coat is marked to the base with the blue Goebel stamp of a ‘v’ and a bee, dating the item from approximately 1950 to 1955. A felt pad covers part of the ‘Germany’ mark nearby. The woman holding a bouquet of daisies and wearing a blue ballgown is marked with a ‘March – Aquamarine – by Josef’ foil sticker to the skirt. The base is marked with a black stamped ‘Josef Originals’; a foil ‘Japan’ sticker is also affixed to the base.
