An oil painting on canvas of a street by listed Michigan-born artist Claude Wallace Woodruff (1884-1956). This painterly work features a rich palette and depicts a village street scattered with figures, a well-dressed woman walking with a parasol toward one side. This piece is signed ‘C.W. Woodruff’ to its lower right corner, and is mounted in a gold tone frame with a wire for a hanging to its verso.
Condition
- fair; some paint loss; accretion and cracquelure throughout; puncture to surface of canvas; frame is heavily scratched and worn.
