Antique Eastlake Knock-Down Armoire

An antique Eastlake knock-down armoire. This walnut piece features an intricately carved and incised pediment above full-length hinged doors with matching burled veneer and brass escutcheons. The doors, which are flanked by incised stiles, open to reveal multiple adjustable shelves and a paneled back. At bottom are two aligned dovetailed drawers with burled veneer, brass bail pulls on decorative plates, and brass escutcheons. The armoire is a ‘knock-down’ style which can be dis-assembled for transporting. Late 19th century.

Condition

- vertical crack in one door front, some cracks near hinges; scratches and wear throughout; would benefit from cleaning; tape remnants to back of piece. Inside, the back boards were modified at one point to accommodate a television.
